‘All you need is love, love, love is all you need.’ – Lennon & McCartney
The majority of us are all busy in the modern world in which we live. Busy with our families, our friends, our jobs, our communities and with the countless commitments these bring us. We know what’s important to us, we know this instinctively without giving it much thought – we think we have worked it out. Because of this we can often go for days, weeks or months without stopping to think about what is important, what makes our lives worth living.
At Options, we never stop asking what matters most for the people we support, as part of Option’s commitment to helping people to live fulfilled lives. In particular, we seek to ensure that people we support have friendships and people in their lives, not too many if people don’t want them, but ensuring no one we support is lonely.
To live your life to the full, we believe you have to have meaningful and loving personal relationships. We agree wholeheartedly with David Pitonyak when he says ‘Loneliness is the only real disability‘.
‘He aha te mea nui? He tangata. He tangata. He tangata.’
What is the most important thing? It is people, it is people, it is people – Maori Proverb
