It was lovely to see people we support, families, friends of Options, our staff, the local community and even pets join us for our Summer Vintage Tea Party on Friday 16th June.
Despite the morning starting off with grey skies and rain threatening to cause us to retreat indoors like last year, the sun finally made an appearance.
The afternoon was spent enjoying the cakes and sweet treats everyone brought along, chatting on picnic blankets and even playing a few garden games like Cactoss.
It was a wonderful turnout, seeing hundreds of people pop in for a cuppa or two.
A special shout out and massive thank you goes to Angela for arranging our Tea Party for the fourth year running.
Reflecting on our wonderful Options get together Angela said: “Just wanted to say a huge thank you from me to everyone who helped make the Tea Party another great success this year – some of you baked, decorated (Dave – someone blew your secret out!) or bought cakes, some of you helped set up and clear up on the day and some of you helped out during the event. As always, it literally could not have happened without all of you – so thank you.”
Team Leader Helen said: “I found the Tea Party great, it was a nice afternoon catching up with people I hadn’t seen for a while and people I see all the time.”
Helen, who brought along her dog Bella, added: “The people we support were made up with her and gave her lots of attention – great day for her also and she loved the cakes… and cream which Angela kept sneaking her.”
Thank you to Dale Street Tesco and Sainsbury’s on Old Hall Street for kindly donating tea and biscuits for our get together at St. Nicholas Church Gardens.
We are also grateful to Time to Eat, Spoilt for Choice, The Granary and Capaldi’s Bagel Shop for supplying the sandwiches – they definitely went down a treat.
The Vintage Tea Party was part of hundreds of ‘Great Get Together’ events across the country working to celebrate the late MP Jo Cox’s life and show we have #MoreInCommon than we realise.
