From becoming a Befriender and supporting a person with disabilities to working in an office all the way to running events and helping out at a farm, there’s plenty of ways to volunteer at Options. But while there are various areas within our organisation, we all work together towards the same mission and share the same values.
Options believes that everyone should feel a part of their local area and have opportunities to get involved. This is why we have a commitment to inclusive communities, and continuously and regularly organise events that bring people together.
Currently we offer a number of opportunities for volunteers to get involved with our events – whether it’s part of planning and organising or helping to run it on the day. It’s a great chance for volunteers to get involved and learn skills while having fun.
Here’s some of the main ways you could join our team and help with events…
Help bring the community together with a cuppa
Join our Vintage Tea Party Committee… or rather Commit-TEA and help to plan and run our free community event taking place on Thursday 18th July in the gardens of St Nicholas Church.
You could get involved in baking cakes, taking photos, making decorations, helping us to get donations, designing flyers, serving food, setting up and down, and greeting people as they join us for the gathering.
Our next meeting will be held on Friday 21st June from 10.30am at our office (First Floor, St Nicholas House, L2 8TX). Please contact Angela who is leading the tea party on 0151 236 0855 or email@example.com today if you would like to get involved.
Be a part of Wirral’s most inclusive festival this summer
If you’ve been following our social media, you’ll already know that we’re very excited to be bringing back One Wirral Festival for the third year running on Saturday 17th August 2019!
We’re looking for over 100 volunteers to get involved in what has been described as the most inclusive festival in Wirral that celebrates equality and diversity.
There are numerous ways you can help – whether it’s on the day itself or during the lead up to it, we’d love for you to get involved.
On the day, volunteer festival stewards could help with:
- Introducing performers and acts on the stage
- Supporting the running of fun workshops and activities
- Helping to set up and clear away before or after the festival
- Handing our programmes, maps and stickers to visitors
- Working on the information point
- Taking some photos of what’s happening at the festival
- Helping with road blocks and traffic directing
- Litter picking
In the lead up, volunteers could help with:
- Marketing and social media such as writing press releases
- Helping create flyers and graphics for the One Wirral website/posts
- Spreading the news about the upcoming festival around their community
- Getting performers, activities and businesses involved
- General administration
If you’re especially interested in volunteering for One Wirral, don’t delay – contact Jennie at firstname.lastname@example.org or 0151 236 0855 now!
Support our commitment to improving health for people with disabilities
We’re looking for people who can help us to find fun and active things to do to help improve health and fitness of people we support, staff and volunteers. Be it that you know of places we can link up with to run events or you yourself have some skills you’d like to share. For instance, are you great at football and would love to run a session for people with learning disabilities? Or have you done cheerleading and want to teach us some dance moves? Do you just enjoy walking and want to support our Walking Group? Whatever it is, we’d love to hear from you.
Spread the word about Options!
We’re also looking for people who would like to become a rep for Options, working to spread the word about who we are and what we do by supporting or taking lead when we attend networking events, careers fairs (such as at universities and colleges) or at charity fun days in the community. This is a great opportunity for people who want to build their confidence, form relationships and develop networking experience.
More ways you can get involved with our events…
Our commitment to inclusion in the community really means we’re always planning for new and upcoming parties, gatherings and activities… which also means there are always opportunities for people to get involved and help out if they’re interested in developing skills related to events planning. We definitely recommend that you get in touch if you would love to help out with any future events and have ideas for what we should do next!
